I do think I love having the 4th fall on a Tuesday. =D No camp today! Day off! Woo!

And yesterday, being a Monday?

::laughs::

We had 8 children show up for camp! *8*! With 3 counselors and a director! (The others went home.) 8 out of a registered 22.

It was so the best day. We did crafts as a whole group... which was fun for the counselors, who got to do other people's activities. ;) Then we played 4 corners in the gym (as we're going on 3 weeks of unmowed grass. Ick.), then there was lunch. Then, our director got out a tarp, some handsoap and the hose.

Slip 'n Slide!

=D They had about an hours worth of fun on that. Then we walked to the ice cream place down the street, and came back and watched Ice Age. It was ridonkulously hot and the lawn was still unmowed, so we decided keeping the kiddos (all under 7 yesterday) cool was the best thing to do. =D

Then, when the movie ended, my shift ended! And it was only 4, and there were only 2 kids left. Everyone else was picked up early.

I have never seen anything like it.

And now, today, I wish you all a...

Happy 4th of July!

That sounds like the best summer camp ever. I am so very envious, because we had a huge thunderstorm yesterday afternoon that knocked out our power until nine this morning. Not especially pleasant, especially since my candle lighter decided to run out of lighter fluid after the first candle and I dripped hot wax all over my hand.

So I celebrated my country's independence by going out for dinner at a new mexican restaurant and reading by candlelight as I tried to comfort my dogs, who are terrified of fireworks. And the neighbors kept setting them off right in front of my house. Grr.

Yes, I just vented all over your journal. Sorry. =P But that's why I've disappeared for the past few weeks - either our power's out or our internet isn't working. *headdesk*

I love my job. This is year 4 with my town's Recreation Department Junior Day Camp (Junior because it's kids from kindergarten and first grade only). Tomorrow we go to Storyland!! =D An hour's bus drive, but that's okay. I do love my job.

I'm sorry you lost power! I hate that. Argh. But the new Mexican restaurant sounds awfully fun! I do love Mexican food. Yumm! And poor dogs. =( Here in Maine it's illegal to have fireworks. (Of course, that just means everyone drives into New Hampshire to buy them and then tries to avoid the cops when driving back. Heh.)

And I hope your power and internet start working again!! =D

Storyland looks like so much fun! But esch, an hour's bus ride with little kids - good luck. =P

If I had been even half-awake at the time, I would have capitalized New Mexican - like the state. Not a new Mexican restaurant, as this one's been around for years.

I assume fireworks are legal here, because you see the stands for them all over the place. However, only the really tiny ones were in Idaho - except on the Indian reservation just out of town that sold huge ones. So everyone would drive out there, buy a ton, then avoid the police. See, Idaho and Maine are totally similar. =D
