First, apologies. I got smacked by the Hyper Bus, apparently. I feel like, if I weren't comfortably surrounded by pillows and a pile of folded towels, I would skip about and maybe dance a jig.
Those who know me in RL are *laughing* at that right now.
This is a vast improvement over the badness that was last night, but I'm not feeling any more writerly inclined tonight, sadly. Just more... bouncy. Heh!
Oh, Bruce and Richard, I need to be mean to you now and you need to help me so I can finish this damn whateveritis.
As an awesome side-note,
likeadeuce wrote a Richard ficlet that I requested! Wee, and it is made of win.
However, something disturbing has come to my attention.
I've been reading some Superman Returns fics and realizing that my f-list is so made-of-win that I was possibly a bit delusional about the treatment of Richard White in fics.
Because SERIOUSLY!!
Yes, I know, he's interferring with the Clark/Lois mojo. I understand the Rabid Shipper Syndrome; I know the HP fandom, don't I? However! Even if you don't go in for the OT3 that is Clark/Lois/Richard (which the movie SO sets up nicely), and even if you aren't a Richard/Lois fan, please at LEAST keep the man in character.
He rocks so much.
My biggest issue is a recurring theme, and it bothers me.
Richard will not gracefully bow out of Lois and Jason's lives just because Superman is revealed to be Jason's father. Heck, I don't buy that he doesn't already know he's not the biological father, but
aradiachiba has played devil's advocate for me too many times for me to discount valid theories supporting it.
Anyway, my point is, he loves Jason. He is Jason's father, regardless of DNA, and even if things between him and Lois go to hell, he's going to stick around for JASON. He's not going to abandon them in a fit and run off to the Middle East.
/rant.
Still in love with Grey's Anatomy, randomly. Watched a ton today with Mom. ♥ this show.
Also, it's been a while, so it's time for some pictures of my cats.

My boy, Chip. He's the more skittish one, but he's my baby boy.

Mo, short for Mozart, who is the Holy Terror and Emporer of ALL. Also, a giant ham who loves attention and is a certified Peanut.
Okay, really, going to go write. Because otherwise I'll fall asleep. But I think that the Deep Freeze has perhaps passed, because the furnace has stopped running for the first time in three days and I'm actually WARM. Shocking.
Also, LJ. Stop lagging on the comment notifications. 30 minutes is too long a lag. What if
xenokattz was trying to break my LJ again? We would be up all night. Shut up, this scenario totally has never happened before.
Using my new icon, which I think expresses my current mood Perfectly.

Date: 2007-01-29 04:15 pm (UTC)Just... NO.
I think you could be right--that, and people are used to shipping Clark/Lois and denial can be a strong force. So, you know, whatever it takes to remove the obstacle? GAH.
Then again, I AM used to the shipping wars in Harry Potter fandom, which can result in horrible, horrible characterizations and characters just thrown under the bus. Which is probably why I started gravitating toward gen fics so much. =P
I just don't get that mindset at all.

Date: 2007-01-30 05:53 pm (UTC)And there was wailing and gnashing of teeth.
A great part of what made Superman Returns so fascinating for me was the idea of Richard being a human Superman. He is just SO. Damned. Nice! He'll always do the right thing, etc, (and BTW,

Date: 2007-01-30 07:03 pm (UTC)Poor boy.
And YES, he DOES. I was watching it with subtitles the other day (shut up, we know I'm a geek), because I've never been able to catch whatever it was Richard said after he and Lois talk in the kitchen--"but did you love him?" "No," etc. Subtitles reveal that after Lois denies (BADLY, btw) that she never loved Superman, Richard says "Lois, I shouldn't have brought it up."
::loves him::
I mean, never mind the whole going after Lois and Richard in the seaplane or turning the damn thing around to help Superman, he is just so awesome and made of win it's not even funny. And THEN he drives Lois to the hospital and you KNOW he knows she loves/loved Superman. Guh. But yes, like you said, he genuinely loves them and he wants what's best for them.
I also adore the rumor that the part was written with James Marsden in mind. I mean, it DOES sort of sum up his entire movie career. ;) (Well... maybe not the entirety of it.)

Date: 2007-01-30 07:19 pm (UTC)I thought that rumour wasn't a rumour, that Singer actually went out and said "I wrote this because I want to work with James Marsden." However, there might have been the implication that he wrote it for James Marsden after realising that Fox was going to stiff Cyclops' part again, hence the plane-flying, etc, etc.

Date: 2007-01-30 07:24 pm (UTC)Also, wee! I said rumor because I didn't KNOW if it was true or not, as I'd just heard it said by someone who heard someone else say it or... something. But dude, this is clearly because James Marsden is made of win. He's so made of win they MAKE UP PARTS FOR HIM.
