First, apologies. I got smacked by the Hyper Bus, apparently. I feel like, if I weren't comfortably surrounded by pillows and a pile of folded towels, I would skip about and maybe dance a jig.

Those who know me in RL are *laughing* at that right now.

This is a vast improvement over the badness that was last night, but I'm not feeling any more writerly inclined tonight, sadly. Just more... bouncy. Heh!

Oh, Bruce and Richard, I need to be mean to you now and you need to help me so I can finish this damn whateveritis.

As an awesome side-note, [livejournal.com profile] likeadeuce wrote a Richard ficlet that I requested! Wee, and it is made of win.

However, something disturbing has come to my attention.

I've been reading some Superman Returns fics and realizing that my f-list is so made-of-win that I was possibly a bit delusional about the treatment of Richard White in fics.

Because SERIOUSLY!!

Yes, I know, he's interferring with the Clark/Lois mojo. I understand the Rabid Shipper Syndrome; I know the HP fandom, don't I? However! Even if you don't go in for the OT3 that is Clark/Lois/Richard (which the movie SO sets up nicely), and even if you aren't a Richard/Lois fan, please at LEAST keep the man in character.

He rocks so much.

My biggest issue is a recurring theme, and it bothers me.

Richard will not gracefully bow out of Lois and Jason's lives just because Superman is revealed to be Jason's father. Heck, I don't buy that he doesn't already know he's not the biological father, but [livejournal.com profile] aradiachiba has played devil's advocate for me too many times for me to discount valid theories supporting it.

Anyway, my point is, he loves Jason. He is Jason's father, regardless of DNA, and even if things between him and Lois go to hell, he's going to stick around for JASON. He's not going to abandon them in a fit and run off to the Middle East.

/rant.

Still in love with Grey's Anatomy, randomly. Watched a ton today with Mom. ♥ this show.

Also, it's been a while, so it's time for some pictures of my cats.

chip

My boy, Chip. He's the more skittish one, but he's my baby boy.

Mo

Mo, short for Mozart, who is the Holy Terror and Emporer of ALL. Also, a giant ham who loves attention and is a certified Peanut.

Okay, really, going to go write. Because otherwise I'll fall asleep. But I think that the Deep Freeze has perhaps passed, because the furnace has stopped running for the first time in three days and I'm actually WARM. Shocking.

Also, LJ. Stop lagging on the comment notifications. 30 minutes is too long a lag. What if [livejournal.com profile] xenokattz was trying to break my LJ again? We would be up all night. Shut up, this scenario totally has never happened before.

Using my new icon, which I think expresses my current mood Perfectly.

You know, it says something about my flist that I've seen more Clark/Richard than Clark/Lois. But seriously, I kind of thought everybody agreed that the treatment of Richard as an actual human being, and not a person-shaped obstacle between the hero and the girl was one of the major strengths of the movie. And people want to kill him off or pretend he doesn't exist or would ABANDON JASON? Please, people. Not to generalize but I have the impression that a lot of Clark/Lois shippers in this fandom are pretty young and don't really think about what it means to be a parent? Not that I'm saying younger people CAN'T appreciate that, but maybe sort of a general trend?

I know. I was even under the impression that most people liked Richard more than Clark or Lois! Oh, my flist is indeed made of win. But then I found a Superman fic community and read at least three fics with variations on the theme that Lois tells Richard that Jason isn't his son and bam! Exit Richard. >_<

Just... NO.

I think you could be right--that, and people are used to shipping Clark/Lois and denial can be a strong force. So, you know, whatever it takes to remove the obstacle? GAH.

Then again, I AM used to the shipping wars in Harry Potter fandom, which can result in horrible, horrible characterizations and characters just thrown under the bus. Which is probably why I started gravitating toward gen fics so much. =P

I just don't get that mindset at all.

Dude! I totally feel for that. I think it was [livejournal.com profile] trandenza who said we need more Richard fics and I was all "Whuh? But EVERYONE loves Richard?" and then FF.Net reveal that this was no so.

And there was wailing and gnashing of teeth.

A great part of what made Superman Returns so fascinating for me was the idea of Richard being a human Superman. He is just SO. Damned. Nice! He'll always do the right thing, etc, (and BTW, [livejournal.com profile] likeadeuce but besides that he genuinely loves Lois and Jason.

Also, I think the internet might be trying to thwart the LJ-breaking. It's slow on my end, too.

I know. Between you and [livejournal.com profile] likeadeuce and [livejournal.com profile] zoe_chan, I was thinking the whole PLANET loved Richard.

Poor boy.

And YES, he DOES. I was watching it with subtitles the other day (shut up, we know I'm a geek), because I've never been able to catch whatever it was Richard said after he and Lois talk in the kitchen--"but did you love him?" "No," etc. Subtitles reveal that after Lois denies (BADLY, btw) that she never loved Superman, Richard says "Lois, I shouldn't have brought it up."

::loves him::

I mean, never mind the whole going after Lois and Richard in the seaplane or turning the damn thing around to help Superman, he is just so awesome and made of win it's not even funny. And THEN he drives Lois to the hospital and you KNOW he knows she loves/loved Superman. Guh. But yes, like you said, he genuinely loves them and he wants what's best for them.

I also adore the rumor that the part was written with James Marsden in mind. I mean, it DOES sort of sum up his entire movie career. ;) (Well... maybe not the entirety of it.)

OMG must now watch it with subtitles! *loves on Richard some more*

I thought that rumour wasn't a rumour, that Singer actually went out and said "I wrote this because I want to work with James Marsden." However, there might have been the implication that he wrote it for James Marsden after realising that Fox was going to stiff Cyclops' part again, hence the plane-flying, etc, etc.

I thought you'd appreciate that. I know I squeed and told my cat, because there was no one else home to squee to. ;)

Also, wee! I said rumor because I didn't KNOW if it was true or not, as I'd just heard it said by someone who heard someone else say it or... something. But dude, this is clearly because James Marsden is made of win. He's so made of win they MAKE UP PARTS FOR HIM.

::loves::

If this was [info]likeadeuce's LJ, we'd be obligated ot say "But I don't care who James Marsden is" at this point.

But since it's your LJ, I think this calls for a serious LJ-breaking moment.

You are absolutely right, on both counts.

LJ-breaking with a side of snark, references to gay sex and general breaking of Clark's brain.

From: [identity profile] xenokattz.livejournal.com
It would probably involve Remy snarking as Bruce and Richard talk shop about their planes.

Date: 2007-01-30 08:05 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lady-sarai.livejournal.com
Snark involving planes as a metaphor for penises, which of course goes right over Clark's head.

No, Clark, you really can't do that with an airplane.

Date: 2007-01-30 08:08 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] xenokattz.livejournal.com
Remy would make sounds about extending Clark's uses for the X-Ray vision and the super-hearing.

Bruce would pretend to look something up on the Bat-PDA. Or maybe he'd REALLY look something up on the Bat-PDA. Who knows?

Date: 2007-01-30 08:16 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lady-sarai.livejournal.com
He's probably looking for an excuse to leave this little pow-wow without looking like he's retreating, because that would give Remy enough ammunition to keep him snarking for years.

It's just too bad all his meetings have been cancelled and there's no crime spree to be found.

Date: 2007-01-30 08:28 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] xenokattz.livejournal.com
Clark has no need for a PDA. He just fakes hearing a siren in the Czech Republic and flies off before they can drag anything else out of this.

Richard is Not Amused that he's been left alone with Bruce and Remy. Clark will definitely be hearing about this later.

It seems supremely unfair that he's the only one without superpowers or a utility belt, but he somehow keeps finding himself in these situations.

Date: 2007-01-30 08:37 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] xenokattz.livejournal.com
Remy ponders aloud about the phallic-shaped pouch on Bruce's utility belt that supposedly holds bat-a-rangs.

Bruce counters with the convenience of Remy's bo-staff pouch-- front and centre.

From: [identity profile] lady-sarai.livejournal.com
Richard would like nothing more than to escape, but he really doesn't want to have to explain to Lois that he let Bruce and Remy cause yet another explosion.

Although by now, she should know that the names "Bruce" and "Remy" uttered in the same sentence mean certain disaster and singed eyebrows.

Date: 2007-01-30 08:59 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] xenokattz.livejournal.com
A hostage situation, two armed robberies and a typhon later, Clark can still hear Remy and Bruce fighting.

He briefly thinks about running in to shove a pillow under Richard's head-- he'd get a concussion soon.

Date: 2007-01-30 09:06 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lady-sarai.livejournal.com
Richard thinks he could just say something about that time he met Remy in Prague, but Bruce's eyes are bugging out of his head and he's not sure Remy even remembers, so why bother?

He'll save it for some time when Bruce is running out of ammunition. Which, he figures, might be sometime in the next millenium.

[and, sadly, I must be off to dinner at the grandmother's. ::sigh:: But wee, LJ breakage!]
