This fic is set during Cissie's time in the Olympics, after someone attacked one of her teammates (Tina) who was the favorite for the gold medal--Tina's arm was broken ala Nancy Kerrigan--and Cissie's mom (Bonnie) was framed for it. Cissie believes, for a while, that her mother is guilty--bringing on this exchange, followed by this conversation. Following Tim's suggestion, Cissie's deaf roommate reads Bonnie's lips in a video, proving she was not arranging a hit on Tina, but telling an opposing team member to stay away from Cissie. Bonnie is cleared of charges, and the next day Cissie and Bonnie talk (here and here). This fic is set the night Bonnie is cleared, but BEFORE Cissie and Bonnie reconnect.

Other brief continuity notes--Tim is dating Stephanie Brown, and his teammates think his name is Alvin Draper. Cissie quit being Arrowette in issues 15-17, after her therapist (who happened to be a mother figure) was brutally murdered. Cissie hunted down the killers and nearly killed them before Superboy arrived and stopped her, prompting her to give up heroing. The comment about Karma and the night in the woods in issue 24 are direct references to these incidents and are referred to here.
