lady_sarai: (Sunset on the water)
First, because I've been asked, this is the bridesmaid dress I'm wearing next June-ish for Steph's wedding. It's rather pretty, and I hope it will still look pretty when I wear it. ;) It's Royal Blue.

Also, for [livejournal.com profile] aradiachiba, this is the song I was telling you about. It's called "If We are the Body," by Casting Crowns. I love it because it's a Christian group calling Christians out on the hypocracy we were talking about.

Ahoy the lyrics! )

And for anyone else (especially [livejournal.com profile] zoe_chan), I offer Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy, as sung by ANTHONY RAPP and someone else.

O_O I don't care if it's not even October yet, Anthony Rapp gets special permission to sing Christmas carols any damn time he wants.

I have unfounded anxiety again. Ugh.

Ariel, was there anything else I was supposed to put here? I can't remember. ;)
lady_sarai: (Default)
I'm friggin' sick.

::headdesk::

DAMMIT.

I just got HEALTHY, people. I've only been in that classroom for four half-days, and it's not like I'm in the kids' faces or something!

Seriously. I have a normal immune system, and I'm germ-conscience. Come ON. I'm sick to DEATH of colds.

Ugh. So, feeling all head-cold-ish. And trying not to say anything about it, because Mom will Flip Out. "Why are you sick? How'd you get sick? Haven't you been careful?"

Blah blah blah.

Like I did this on purpose. Ugh.

Okay, done whining, really.

Now. Some serious questions for my dear f-list.

What would students call the Founders? This is roughly 1000 years ago, mind. I'm not sure 'professor' works.

Also, how does everyone feel about surnames? Meaning, the Blacks and Malfoys and Weasleys and Potters, et al. can PROBABLY trace their families back that far, but would those particular last names be in use? As for me, sometimes I like it--if secondary characters happen to have names familiar to me, it's fun. But on occasion, it gets grating.

Beyond that, any suggestions on names--first OR last--for Founders-era characters? Or on where I could find such names? I have a regional/ethnic baby name book I generally use, but it doesn't contain any information regarding *when* those names were popular.

Just some logistic type questions, to get a feel for opinions. =D

Thank you.
lady_sarai: (Trout!)
I come by my quirkiness honestly, let me tell you.

It must be genetics.

Example:

Me: Ow!
Mom: What?
Me: The steam burnt my knuckle-finger-thingy!
Mom: Ohhh, well, that explains it. Whenever I burn my knuckle-finger-thingy, my nerve-endy-thingies tingle, like a spider sense. Except I'm not Spiderman.

And she claims she's not a superhero fan. BAH, I tell you. (I have yet to show her a superhero movie she doesn't like. A lot. Except Batman Begins, but the Scarecrow scared the bejesus out of her. Also, she has Crush Of Gigantic Proportions on Liam Neeson, and does Not enjoy him as teh evil.)

Now? She is reading a book and doesn't want read it because something suspenseful is happening.

What does she do?

Talk my ear off. Then let me think she's done, then start up again.

And then I put music on to distract her, and she is now singing. Loudly. Off-tune.

Just now:

Mom: I can't hear! You're typing is too loud, where's the music? Oh, wait, I hear! I can hear! I love this song! ::begins singing::

And now she is belting out Celine Dion. And our cats are STARING at her.

Correction. Now she is asking my cat to fetch her socks.

She is *bouncing* in her chair.

Again, no point to this post.

Oh, now she's talking about fudge.

And is now singing Neil Diamond.

In other news, decided to check some unfinished stories.

Yes, huge word count there. I'd like to finish my Phantom of the Opera fic that I wrote almost to completion last FEBRUARY, but somehow an entire scene has been lost and either way? No clue how I'm ending it. >_<

My weak point tends to be endings. Interestingly.

My RENT epic is longer than the Phantom fic and nowhere NEAR even a quarter complete.

Harry Potter? Not starting with that file.

Note to self: FINISH SOMETHING. Even if it's crap. Because there is always editing.
lady_sarai: (Trout!)
Ermm... I did not sign up for notification emails from [livejournal.com profile] lj_spotlight. So why did I just get one?

Also, every time the phone rings it kicks out my wireless internet and BUGS THE HELL OUT OF ME.

Just saying.

[livejournal.com profile] xenokattz has new Elementals! And [livejournal.com profile] minisinoo has new Finding Himself!!! My night is made, and I know what I shall do this evening. Yes, my life is THAT interesting. ;) (This is also what I get for going to bed early two nights in a row and ignoring my LJ for a day and a half. Ish.)

I'd like to play with this love meme, but the amount of comments scares me, as does the time it took to load in the first place. =P Heh.

Today was good. Yesterday was good. Wednesday was bad and overwhelming and scarifying. =P

Went to the grocery store and managed to buy a week's groceries for $55. We are goddesses, my mother and I.

Utterly random food/grocery stuff no one cares about... )

I want this book in a frightening way. Because then I can spout off even MORE random information about Norway than ever before and [livejournal.com profile] aradiachiba might actually toss me out of her car for it someday. ;)

But seriously. A lot of the things I want to know are things my grandmother would never think of telling me because it's second-nature to her, and even to my mother. And some things are different now than they were when they lived there.

Okay, yes, ginormous geek.

And no, there is no point to this post.

OMG, my mother is NAGGING ME. I have two seconds before dinner, APPARENTLY. >_<

Family. You love them.
lady_sarai: (WTF Cristina)
Okay, minor spoilers for the OotP film.

Spoileriffic cut! )

Also, it's only 11? Geesh. The house is so quiet, even the cats have gone to bed somewhere. (Probably in front of the freezer...)

I need to get more comfortable. And get something to drink, I'm thirsty.

(And the Founder fic of DOOOOOOM and dragons may well be finished tonight. Then it needs Looking Over. ;) Hee!)
lady_sarai: (Obliviate)
I do love Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Particularly the car chase.

"What's her name and social security number?!"
"No, you aren't going to kill her."

"I knew I saw your father on Fantasy Island!"

"We're going to have to re-do every conversation we've ever had."
"...I'm Jewish."
"...I can't believe I brought my real parents to our wedding."

That is all for now. Continue with your whole having-a-life "thing."

Robin Hood

Aug. 27th, 2006 09:47 pm
lady_sarai: (Oonagi!)
I made what might be a highly foolish mistake and put Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves on tv.

...

First, an observation: Any movie with Morgan Freeman in it is immediately made better. The best thing about any movie with Morgan Freeman in it is automatically Morgan Freeman. "No man controls my destiny. Especially not ones who attack downwind and stink of garlic."

Second, I may well have done too much research on Robin Hood to fully enjoy this movie the way I used to.

This saddens me.

...But it's still Robin Hood.

Also, Alan Rickman at THIS age (and in this role) is precisely how I have always imagined Snape.
lady_sarai: (Sunset on the water)
Today was the last day of camp. Sigh. My fourth summer as a counselor, over and done.

I'll be glad to sleep in.

It was great seeing some of the kids who have moved on to the other camps, and having them come and say hi. =D

I got a perfect evaluation. Weee!

Yeah, in other news, I'm tired and my throat is sore. I'm off to bed. Sadly.

Oh, yeah, and...

Tomorrow is my BIRTHDAY!!

=D

Birthdays are joy.
lady_sarai: (Oonagi!)
Last day of summer camp tomorrow. =( It's gone by so FAST! This means... no more work. =P Eeek.

I've got to get a job. Please call me and set up interviews, people. I promise I'll be a good teacher!

Ugh.

In other news, still sick. This is going on three weeks and I'm sick of it. Seriously.

Also, totally waffling. And looking forward to having time to read fics-of-substance again! Good lord, time to myself and staying awake past 9 or 10 pm. O_O

Whoa.

Erm... trying to keep my Gambit-fangirlism to a minimum, but it's proving difficult. As is suppressing my Cyclops-fangirl.

Helga Hufflepuff is still eating my brain, and while I can tell you what color her friggin' eyes are, it does not help with plotting or getting a story written. (Hazel.)

And, in other news...

My birthday is on Saturday. =D
lady_sarai: (Cary Grant)
So, I found a new icon last night and it made me squee, so I made it my new default icon.

The problem I'm having now is that whenever I check my f-list or come to LJ in any sense, I see my new icon.

And I stare and swoon.

::swoons again::

Okay, Sara, stop. Even if it is Cary Grant.

I talked to my roommate on the phone tonight. =D I do love her and will miss living with her when we don't go back to school this fall. ::sigh::

Also, would like to work on a fic. I have half-formed ideas and no one to bounce them off of. Hmm.

Last night I posted the first of the fanmix requests. Harry/Ginny and Snape/Hermione. Check them out! =D

Meanwhile. Cary Grant. Swoonage.
lady_sarai: (Helga)
Okay, so, I have found the quintessential song for Helga Hufflepuff (as I envision her). I mean, have heard the song a dozen times, but was listening this morning in the car and went "dude, it's her theme song!"

Or something to that effect.

And ugh. Hottest day of the summer tomorrow? Thank you for falling on the day of our overnight camping trip, when I have to spend 32 consecutive hours with 20-something of my 5-7 year old campers. >_<

Also, I have realized I have no bugspray. Crap. This means getting up extra early tomorrow, which won't help when I'm up late, sleeping in a tent with kiddos, and up at the crack of dawn Thursday. But if I get up early, I'll only be sleep-deprived and not eaten alive.

Oh, this should be interesting.

Also, Ariel, I need to talk to you about Saturday. We called the doctor because my ears are still wacked out, and she said I should avoid swimming and getting water in my ears for another week or so. (This makes showering interesting...) =/ So we need to talk.

Anywho.

Helga Hufflepuff.

I ♥ her.

And her song is totally Heart on My Sleeve by Idina Menzel.

Lyrics and a surprise for Theanna )

Ugh, this heat. >_<

Also, I have a cough that won't quit and it *hurts* my throat when I have these spells. So, ow. You know what? REALLY ready to be healthy now. >_

Oi and ow.

Jul. 24th, 2006 08:54 pm
lady_sarai: (Touch of Destiny)
Well, crud. I'm sick. ::whines::

WTF, mate? It's summer and I've done the sick thing already. >_<

Also, may I ask what is up with me needing to go to the doctors when I'm between insurances?

ARGH!

Anywho. Have a lovely ear infection.

Lucky me.

Actually, yeah. I've had them chronically since before I can remember. Some of my earliest memories involve screaming while my parents--both of them-- were trying to put drops in my ears. When I was seven, I had tubes put in and they helped, but all the way through high school, every cold led to an ear infection. It's just been in college that this stopped.

The advantage of this is that I know when it's an earache and when it's an infection, and my doctor tends to believe me. So, she called ear drops in for me.

Ugh, I hate hate HATE ear drops. >_<

::whines and rubs her ear::

I'd better sleep. The NyQuil is kicking in.

I have nothing more to report, except I want some quality Bruce-and-Dick-as-father/son-not-slashy-lovers fic. Specifically set during the first few months (or years) of Dick's arrival at Wayne Manor.

And I'm still looking for that elusive inserting-Dick-into-Batman-Begins-verse fic.

Hmm.
lady_sarai: (Trout!)
...Is it ridiculous or sad that I was listening to "Ghostbusters" just now and for the first time ever, I caught this line:

"Busting makes me feel good!"

.....

I think that says it all, really.
lady_sarai: (Oonagi!)
Okay, so I downloaded a bunch of music today.

OMG, my childhood.

O_O

I am such an 80s child and oh, power ballads!

Dude, Ghostbusters theme song. And I totally found Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch. (There was a time when "Funky Bunch" was a cool name. I love that.)

::is geeky and belting out Flashdance music, despite not remembering the movie itself beyond the iconic images::

Right. So.

Remember when I asked yesterday for fics? I still want them.

But I had a crazy dream last night that made me wake up going "WTF?! OMG, someone needs to write that!!"

Said crazilicious dream I now weirdly want to see worked into a fic... (Not as corny as that makes it seem, I swear.) )

My brain scares me sometimes.

That would be one truly disfunctional family and I'd love it.
lady_sarai: (Touch of Destiny)
You know what? I'm craving some fics. I'm not sure if they exist, or where to find them, but I want them. ::nods::

So far as that goes...

X-Men:

I want something with young!Scott. Young!Scott and Erik Lensherr in their very fantastically screwed up family dynamics. Because I absolutely adore Scott and Charles interactions, but I'd like to see the other side of that practically-canon coin.

Batman Begins:

I specify the movie, and WHICH movieverse, because... well. I just do.

I want someone to introduce Dick Grayson to the new movieverse in a believable and mostly canon-compliant way. When he is still a child, thankyouverymuch. (I say this in spite of my insane crush on Chris O'Donnell and his blue blue eyes.)

I want Alfred, Bruce and Dick. And the whole lovely, screwed up, emotionally traumatizing gamut.

::shrug::

I seem to have a thing for father-son relationships this week. Which is interesting in that I am a daughter without a father. ;) Heh...

So, any idea where I could find these? Or links to give me for fics to read, even if they have nothing to do with these fandoms or requests?

Also, Dear [livejournal.com profile] femgenficathon story: PLEASE COOPERATE and at LEAST point me toward a fandom. >_< ::is frustrated and running out of time::

Last night, [livejournal.com profile] aradiachiba and I went to Funtown. The guys running the Thunderbolt were blasting the best music--usually it's the modern music that high schoolers love, but... Last night, about 7 pm, it was QUEEN. Then "Oh, Mickey, you're so fine, you're so fine, you blow my mind--Hey Mickey!" The best part was the male attendant who came running over to the gate like a cheerleader. And the rowdy group of men who were singing at the top of their lungs to the music they played after, including "Summer of 69." It was highly fun. =D Also, we did the Astrosphere 3 times, and the last time was a "dark ride" which was wicked fun. The attendant there was funny, too.

And she got me on a roller coaster. And I liked it. (This is astounding.)

And today at camp, our program director came and helped again and revealed that we are his favorite camp and the most fun to work with! =D Course, he suggested this was because I gave him Rice Krispie Treats left over from my rotations, but... ;) Then he turned the gym into a movie theater for us, bringing in his PA system and singing Disney songs to the kids. It was a fantastic Friday.

Also, he called one of the campers and his group "Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch" which made me bend over in hysterics (partly because I've called him "Marky Mark" all summer), mostly because you could totally tell which counselors are old enough/too old to know Marky Mark. And the look on EVERY child's face was PRICELESS. As was the repeated use of "Funky Bunch" by the kids... some of whom thought it was "Punky Bunch."

I do love my job.

But! Back to the point. I want fics to read. ::nods:: Suggestions? (Any good Batman Begins archives/comms out there?)

I totally need some Batman and Scott Summers icons... Hmph.
lady_sarai: (Default)
Well, new layout for me! [livejournal.com profile] lady_sarai! It's possibly a bit... mauve. But. It's not blue!

And the header is, if I say so myself, beautiful. =D Portland Head Light and Disney lyrics. And a sunset. Does it get any better? ;)

I love Fort Williams, btw. Quite possibly my favorite place on the planet (home of said lighthouse, for those of you not in the know).

Also, random info for the night: Portland Head Light is not in the city of Portland. No, it's in Cape Elizabeth. ;) But it guards Portland Harbor and Casco Bay. ::nods::

Right. Well then.

Also, have made the startling realization, while looking at some LOST icons, that Jack (Matthew Fox) looks ridiculously like my camp director. O_o Possibly I've made this connection all along without realizing it and this is why I haven't found Jack as sexy as many people seem to find him. He looks like my boss.

And with that, it's bedtime.

Oh! And does anyone know where I might find some good haircut ideas? I have loooong hair now and am considering a cut, but want ideas first. So, suggestions?
lady_sarai: (Touch of Destiny)
So, I waffled back and forth on doing the [livejournal.com profile] xmmfication, and woke up this morning and realized I wanted to do it, but oops. Missed the deadline by a few hours.

>_<

Such is my life. =P

Ah well!

I think I want a new layout, as in, new header and different colors. Must think on this and consider possible headers.

What fandom? Fandom related at all?

Hmm... Ideas? Suggestions?

Still looking for my mysterious and anonymous LJ Angel...

I feel like I could write today, if given half a chance at, you know, my own time.

It's wicked hot, yo.

Oo, meme! Snagged from [livejournal.com profile] selenak:

Click on my icons, pick out one that looks interesting to you, and ask me something about it. Why I chose it, what it is, what the quote is from, anything!

And, alternately (or additionally), doing the meme icon thing that went around ages ago: Pick an icon of mine and I will write a drabble for you.

I believe I can handle drabbles at this moment in time. ;) Heh.

Icon!

Jul. 16th, 2006 01:06 am
lady_sarai: (Touch of Destiny)
I have a new icon and I loves it.

I'm not coherent enough or awake enough to think about anything else to post.

Although I want to write and I have... oh, until I fall asleep, to decide if I'm doing XMMficathon this year.

::waffles::

Hmm. Does my sincere and utter hatred and dismissal of X-3 make this difficult? Or does my apparent aversion to deadlines make it impossible?

Huh.

But, oo, piratey goodness.

Watched the first movie tonight. I do think Will totally won me over in the second. Hmm.

Edit: Meme!!

(Click here to post your own answers for this meme.)

I miss somebody right now.  (Lots of someones!) × I don't watch much TV these days.  (HA! Although, it is summer.... ::shrug::) I own lots of books.  (::snort:: Oh, if you only knew...)
I wear glasses or contact lenses.  (Reading glasses.) I love to play video games.  (But don't very often have the chance.) × I've tried marijuana.
I've watched porn movies.  (Don't ask. Girls' Nights. College. ...Yeah.) × I have been the psycho-ex in a past relationship. I believe honesty is usually the best policy.  (Usually.)
I curse sometimes.  (::giggles:: Um... yeah.) × I have changed a lot mentally over the last year. × I carry my knife/razor everywhere with me.
it goes on... )

Because everyone else did it. I am a lemming.
lady_sarai: (HA!)
I do think I love having the 4th fall on a Tuesday. =D No camp today! Day off! Woo!

And yesterday, being a Monday?

::laughs::

We had 8 children show up for camp! *8*! With 3 counselors and a director! (The others went home.) 8 out of a registered 22.

It was so the best day. We did crafts as a whole group... which was fun for the counselors, who got to do other people's activities. ;) Then we played 4 corners in the gym (as we're going on 3 weeks of unmowed grass. Ick.), then there was lunch. Then, our director got out a tarp, some handsoap and the hose.

Slip 'n Slide!

=D They had about an hours worth of fun on that. Then we walked to the ice cream place down the street, and came back and watched Ice Age. It was ridonkulously hot and the lawn was still unmowed, so we decided keeping the kiddos (all under 7 yesterday) cool was the best thing to do. =D

Then, when the movie ended, my shift ended! And it was only 4, and there were only 2 kids left. Everyone else was picked up early.

I have never seen anything like it.

And now, today, I wish you all a...

Happy 4th of July!
lady_sarai: (Sacrifice)
Oh, man. It's barely 8:30 and I'm EXHAUSTED. I'm nodding off now. Oi.

But I've got plans for Wednesday with one of my two favorite girls. =D

And camp went really well. The enrollment is way down this year, and this week I have 6 kids in my group. Tomorrow, it's a beach day. Wee! Kiwanis, even. The water's murky and the bottom sticky, but there's a snackbar and picnic tables and shade. Dude.

My group named themselves the "Dolphins."

I'm so tired. I'm going to *try* to watch Treasure Hunters on TV. (I *so* want to get into this show. It's like Amazing Race with history and puzzles! Come on!)

...But honestly? Going to bed doesn't sound bad, either.

I'm sorry. :( Theanna, I love you. I promise I'll catch you at some point...

Write me something, someone? ;)

Oh boy, tired. I think I forgot how much kids sap the energy out of you. They're energy leeches when you put them in groups.

And it's been raining all day. Even a small group--less than 30, total--gets LOUD in a gym. Oh, the echo. But they all got along pretty well and enjoyed dodgeball. Which meant one giant game instead of twenty small games. =P

Oh, I want to write. And read. But I have no creative juices right now, story-wise. I feel stuck. Blah.

Oh, bed *is* calling me.

I feel old and silly. =P
