So, the brother is out and about again, and I have pirated some laptop time--and discovered that he downloaded some pictures already from today! So, totally pirating some of THOSE to post and spam you all with. ;)

Today we went to the World War II Resistance Museum and Akershus (a park overlooking Oslo fjord where the museum is and where the cannons were fired from during the invasion), as well as the City Hall and down Karl Johan Gate, which is the street the Palace is on. Then we went to the train station, which is also a mall.

Here are three pictures, at least until I get home and upload all of MINE--and it doesn't take a YEAR to upload ONE. )

In other news, apparently am incapable of writing in a notebook by hand. Will try to remedy this, if I don't fall asleep as soon as I hit the pillow, which is a VERY REAL possibility. =P Jet-lag does suck.

Also, it's almost 11 pm, but the sun is out and it's gorgeous. This midnight sun thing is awesome, but does not help convince my internal clock that it's not 3 in the afternoon! ;)

I am in Oslo. Whoa.

The brother is out being touristy and letting me use his laptop for a brief moment, provided I don't use his IM programs. :P Ah well!

It is 10:45 pm here (4:45 in Maine!), and it is still DAYLIGHT out. This is not going to help with the jetlag, if there is no *actual* night for a few days. ;) (But it's wicked cool.)

The flights were fine, except for the hour we sat *on* the plane in Boston before take-off, and for the fact that the flight from Newark was 7 hours long and it felt longer. We landed and got through customs with no problems, then took the train to Oslo and arrived at the hotel by noon--but we couldn't check in until 3.

Keep in mind that apparently it's physically impossible to sleep on an airplane. >_< So at noon we'd been awake for 24 hours--as it was 6 am in Maine. We sat in the lounge for 3 hours, except for the trip to the train station across the street to buy bread, cheese and Firklover--the best candy bar IN THE WORLD. Yum!

Anyway, the trip here was exhausting and draining and left us all in lousy moods until we checked in and took naps. I've never had a shower that felt quite as good as the one I took when we checked in! Also, my ears have FINALLY stopped ringing from the descent into Norway--*ow*.

Hopefully there can be some serious sleeping tonight, before the serious sightseeing starts tomorrow--we're going to the World War II museum and the Palace and some other place whose name I couldn't catch.

I really hope I start picking up some Norwegian, although most everyone speaks English if they realize we don't.

Anyway, this is mainly a "we're here!!" post. =D

The sunlight at this time of night is REALLY cool and bizarre all at once.

Well, it's finally here! We're going to NORWAY! Eeeee!!!

Our itinerary, for those who care. )

So, I shall be off overseas and out of immediate contact until July 8th or 9th, depending on how jet-lagged I am when we get home. ;) My brother is bringing his laptop, so I *might* finagle some time from him, but it likely won't be much.

Behave yourselves, write lots of good fics, and don't break the internet, my lovely f-list! I shall see you when I return!!

You can CERTAINLY expect some MAJOR picspammage when I return. ;) And possibly my brother will be updating his MySpace, in which case I might link in a locked post--we shall see.

So, I have a new header, which I'm fond off--although the coding for my layout seems a tad wonky and I don't feel like messing with it, or messing with the coloring any more. But!

I also have a new mood theme, courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] tropic_themes--HAPPY FEET! Eee, penguins! This is the first time I've changed my mood theme since getting my paid account, and I feel a slight twinge for my Grey's Anatomy theme, but... after the season finale, I don't feel so badly about it.

Also, amusing side-note: we have ONE new counselor this summer--who happens to be my next-door neighbor, who just graduated high school and who I remember as the 4 year old I used to play "Batman" and dinosaurs with. This amuses me. We returning counselors gave him a hard time, but we *did* let him have all the "good" kids when we made the groups.

AND I have a passport! FINALLY! Had to spend ALL DAY Tuesday in Boston to get it--we had an appointment, but appointments mean NOTHING these days, as there were people with appointments later than ours or no appointment at all in front of us in line. We stood in line for over 2 hours before being let into the room to sit down, and then it was about 45 minutes before our number was called. But since we drove down from Maine, they let us pick the passports up same day--if we waited two hours.

BUT we have passports. Woot!

And we leave for Oslo, Norway on SATURDAY!!!!! O_O!!! EEEP! That's... ridiculously soon. And we have a zillion things still to do. Eek.

But anyway, the new header and default icon are in celebration of our trip. Weee!

Speaking of said trip, if you would like a postcard, I need an address--yes, [livejournal.com profile] aradiachiba, I mean you. ;) Comments shall be screened!

I do love my new mood theme, ee!
